Welcome to a fresh look lamerslame.net. I’ve been letting this blog go for the past few months due to some external pressures, and while I have been writing for the site I just haven’t been publishing the stuff. So over the last week and a bit I’ve been cleaning up the look and feel of the site. Lamerslame is now running the latest version of Wordpress - 2.5 and has a brand new theme to go with it, which in my opinion looks a great deal better then the previous model. The blog also has a clean new database to go with the new install of Wordpress, which will hopefully fix a few of the minor issues plaging the previous version of lamerslame.net
I’ve also been thinking about the way I have been writing on this blog and have decided to make some changes. Rather then the lengthy, play-by-play trip reports I’ve been putting up; shorter, meatier pieces will go up fairly often. At the same time, I’m going to make a return to some of the content that I haven’t been writing about for a great while - television, sports, poker and whatever else is floating around my brain.
Over the next month or so I have a fair bit of past content to cover (which will include finishing my USA 2007 trip), but will be heading back to the States tomorrow for my second visit to the Coachella Valley Music and Arts festival in addition to a nice little package of other music shows. For all the latest stuff I’m up to - check the Upcoming Events section at the bottom of this page, and click the RSS feed link at the top to subscribe to the site.
It’s been way too long since I’ve sat down and written something, but in all honesty the jetlag is kicking my ass. Going to bed at 9:30 and getting up at 6 isn’t something I do because I want to. Fortunally I’ve recovered enough to sit down and write this. So, time to get on with it.
After a few extra days of activity in the Anaheim region, I got back to Melbourne this morning. I haven’t really been writing because I haven’t been using the internet since I got from Coachella - I’ve had really loaded days causing me to practically fall asleep every night at about 9pm (forget watching Conan).
Over the next week so I’ll write every detail I can remember from my trip (amazingly, I can remember almost everything) including:
Going back to sleep after a wake-up call and almost missing a ride to LA
Getting by America without a credit card or cash
Rollercoaster after rollercoaster after rollercoaster….
Watching Lakers/Suns at the ESPNZone with a room full of Laker fans
Plus a few other bits and pieces my half-awake brain cannot recall at the moment. I’ll probably write about the Comedy Festival too while I’m at it. All I know is, I’m really glad that I didn’t get tickets for Something For Kate tonight.
Despite my plans of having a Jack Black inspired tasty nap, I got a second wind and headed down to the Disneyland report, passing other hotels and shops in the process (Quiznos, nice). The walk would of been no more then ten minutes, and after picking myself up a two-day park hopper pass, I headed straight into Disney’s California Adventure.
Right before going to the parks, I checked out RideMax and created an lists of rides I wanted to check out. The software allows you to list what rides you want to ride, then connects to their servers with the latest information on wait times at the parks. As a result, I waited no more then 15 minutes in any line in the park, yet every time I got in line their seemed to be a rush of people ready to ride.
