Animal Collective will play Meredith Music Festival, tour Australia

Much hyped indie act Animal Collective will play the Meredith Music Festival on Saturday December 12 in Meredith, Victoria. Information regarding a tour was released today on the Domino Records website, home to the New York based act. Animal Collective will play a four date tour of Australia starting in Brisbane on December 10, with shows in Sydney and Perth in addition to the festival date. The Meredith and Perth show has a four day gap between shows, suggesting that a Melbourne sideshow could be announced in the near future.

The band is now the second “official” act to be confirmed for the Victorian festival, with Pulp frontman Jarvis Cocker announcing dates for an Australian tour last week. The dates announced carefully excluded a Melbourne date whilst having a day’s break between shows in Brisbane and Sydney on the same weekend of the festival. The first festival line-up is expected to be released next week.
