Lazyness for the win!

I’ve been awfully slack in the last week and went a bit easy on the blog. Not that I’ve had nothing to write about or anything, I’ve just rather preferred to sleep in, read, exercise and play Wii. So here are a few random thoughts to crack wise on..

  • Crazy finish to that Totistititititotototottotototototo Fiesta Bowl. I’d link to footage off YouTube but Fox and the NCAA made the YouTube take them all down. MSN Video has highlights, but boy do they suck. How you can screw up video streaming in this day and age I don’t know.
  • Got the last of my t-shirts this week so I have no need for any more t-shirts for the time being. T-shirts are good.
  • No word from ABC/rage yet. Not surprised as I never really expected one, but I’ll give them two more weeks before I go into stage two..
  • Decided to stick some cash online to play low limits (0.10/0.25). Set myself a goal - make $75 in two months just playing ring game. So far in two days of play I’ve made $36.90. Not bad, but I ran incredibly hot this morning getting paid off on a number of huge hands against bad players. Infact, I think I played some of my best style today as I constantly mixed it up. I might go into a bit of detail tomorrow.
  • I went to the final PWA show last Saturday.. it was so-so. More detailed tomorrow - maybe.
  • Joe Hachem’s launched his own range of poker wear - t-shirts brandishing the “Pass The Sugar” slogan. Now I only a few questionable poker t-shirts but I doubt I’d buy one with that slogan, let alone Joe’s face. I’ll scan up a picture of it, probably some time tomorrow (I’m gonna be busy obviously)
  • Garage Days worries too much about wanky camera work and colours rather then a decent story.

I think that will do for today.

Looking at the figures

So sometime in September 2005 I decided that I was going to lose a bit off my gut and start walking the recommended 10,000 steps everyday. As a bit of motivation/geekness, I tracked how many steps I took every day to make sure I could say I reached a goal.

On January 1 2006 I decided to change the times I counted steps from midnight to midnight rather then counting them from whenever I got up to whenever I went to bed (at that stage, I was usually getting up at about 10am and going to bed at 2). I managed to walk every day of 2006 except for two (where my pedometer broke and I didn’t buy a new one for a few days). So a year on I have some full figures, some averages and the like. Obviously the numbers are not 100% accurate, but they are good enough. The figures tell the following..

  • I walked at least 10,000 steps for 319 days in the year (87.39% of the year)
  • I walked more 11,000 or more steps for 59 days (16.16%)
  • I most often walked 10,000 steps on Tuesdays (48 of 52 weeks, or 92.30% of the year)
  • I most rarely walked 10,000 steps on Sundays (39 of 52 weeks, or 75% of the year)
  • The day I walked the most steps was Friday, November 18 where I walked 20,807 steps
  • The day I walked the fewest steps (not counting days that were marked as 0 as the pedometer broke) was Tuesday, January 17 where I walked 2,408 steps
  • The week where I walked the most steps was the week of November 13-19 where I walked 82,310 steps
  • The week where I walked the fewest steps was January 30-February 5 where I walked 45,952 steps
  • I walked the most steps total on Sundays, walking 549,784 steps.
  • I walked the fewest steps on Saturdays, walk 513,673
  • On average, I walked 10,142.52 steps per day
  • On average, I walked 71,018.21 steps per week

Okay, here is the big one. I was required to walk 3,650,000 steps during the year to clear at least 10,000 steps a day through the year.

In total, I walked 3,702,018 steps!

Yeah, you read that right, 3.7 MILLION! Pretty scary when you think about it like that.

As for this year? I’ll continue throughout the year walking at least 10,000 steps a day. This year however I’m going to try and clear at least four million steps, this may be a bit hard but I’m confident. I’m also going to hit the bike for at least 30 minutes every day, something that I’ve been doing for the last few weeks already.

As for the weight off the gut? It’s not totally gone, but I’ve made a considerable improvement over the old me, that’s for sure.

Three various disappointments from 2006

Well we are getting to the end of LIST-O-MANIA for 2006 and I figured it is time to look at the three things that let me down this year, be it music, television, movies or something else completly. Once again in no order, the disappointments are..

I had grand plans

Absolut and Radioactive Man

I had grand plans on my time off of resting and blogging each day. However, all I have been doing is resting and drinking, and it’s been gooooooooood. All I’ll say is, Good Christmas, Good Boxing Day, good everything. See you tomorrow for a proper entry.

I have tennis elbow

I’ve overdone it, too much Wii action. My elbow is feels quite tender, so I’ll give the Wii a rest for the next few days.

My ISP recently changed bandwidth providers, so my internet access is slow. Watching YouTube is impossible.

I’ve got the next sixteen days off work. Since it’s also the end of the year, it may just be time for.. LIST-O-MANIA!

Bye for now.

Let me program rage

I like rage. I like it a lot. One of my dreams in my lifetime would be to host an episode of rage on a Saturday night, the night usually dedicated to actual music artists. I mean, lesser people then me who are not music artists have hosted in the past *cough* Wil Anderson *cough*. Yeah I know he hosted Triple J breakfast for a while, but he’s not even funny and he still managed to host! Hell ABC, I’ll make it easier for you and type up a play list of videos I’d show.

Now I know the chances of someone from the ABC, let alone someone who works with rage are slim to nil. So I wrote up a letter explaining who I am and why I should host. You can view it below:

My letter to rage on why I should guest host.

To have a look at the play list of what would appear if I hosted rage, click the link below.

I’ll keep you updated if I get a reply.

T-Shirt tales (aka Only thing worse then a person who spams his blog…)

… is a person who then doesn’t make any new entries.

Last few days have been a little bit crazy but my life is back on track now.

I’ve been on a bit of a buying spree for the last few days. Picked up a couple of t-shirts from Panic and one from Ante Up on Wednesday pretty spontaneously. Today I got myself a ticket to Lupe Fiasco’s side show on Australia day which should be really awesome (suprised that the BDO in Sydney isn’t on Australia Day, but there you go). Got myself a 2gb memory card for my Wii from Zazz for a super cheap price. I’m tossing up whether I want to go and see Butterfingers next Friday night and sneak in some poker too. Tickets are cheap so it’s mighty tempting.

Speaking of which - what’s the deal with semi-average acts charging crazy ticket prices!? Lupe came to about $50 today, and while I don’t mind paying for it, I would of expected them to be about $10-15 cheaper. Tenacious D come out next month and as entertaining as they are, you would have to be incredibly hardcore to pay $72 to go and see them. I hear that Weird Al Yankovic puts on an incredible stage show, but $80 a ticket? Come on, Al is good but he’s not superstar level. I realise that it costs a lot to bring these acts to Australia, but the D wouldn’t be out here if they didn’t have a movie to promote. It just seems a bit excessive in the end and really the promoters are turning away potential customers by charging so much. With that said, they might pack the house and get people willing to pay that price. I don’t know, that’s why I’m not a concert promoter.

Back to buying spree. I was looking at the Okayplayer Store and might finally get a couple. Then my sister was looking at the Glarkware store as she was thinking about buying a few shirts and I saw this old favourite of mine. Then I came across a link and saw this which I thought was appropriate for myself, but my sister butted in and said that I was anti-social (I recommend her this one, but she liked this more). Then while watching Trailer Park Boys I saw this and thought “I wonder if they sell that”. They do. And I can’t forget about the ultra cool Boom Headshot hoodie from the Pure Pwange store. And I realise that you can’t start a sentence with the word And, but this is a blog so rules don’t apply.

I’m hooked on the Arctic Monkeys at the moment, since I’ve been listening to Virgin Radio Xtreme I’ve discovered a number of bands that I like (and won’t listen to for much longer - Bloc Party in particular). The Aussie Millions are getting closer and closer and I really need to qualify now if I want to play in the main event, so I think I’ll be hitting the tables particularly hard tommorow afternoon. I have to work out my day’s off if I’m planning on playing in any of the other events, the only one that really intrigues me is the Limit Ohama Hi/Lo event but I don’t think I have that day off. The first batch of tickets have been released for the Melbourne International Comedy Festival 2007. Apart from the Gala, Debate and RAW Comedy final, only a few local names and Danny Boay have been announced. I plan on going to a ridiculous amount of shows at the festival.
This entry was a bit all over the place, but hey that’s what you have to put up when reading this crud. My planned write up of the Amazing Race finale will come after I re-watch the episode as I forgot what happened (yeah it was that good a finale). I haven’t really watched any other television this week so I’ll probably have a long entry detailing a few shows that I watch in the next few days. TV is on a bit of a break everywhere since Xmas/New Year is coming up and apparently people stop watching it (news to me) so I don’t really have a whole lot to write about on that front.

I think that’s where I am going to leave it today. I have a few rants/article type things I will write about, so add that RSS feed to your favourite website/browser and keep a watch on it. ‘Til then, later.
