Studio 60 - The Christmas Show - Just an outstanding episode today and it hurts me to think that it won’t be back for seven or eight weeks. The dynamic between Jordan and Danny developed a great deal with Danny finally coming out and saying what he really feels about her. The question.. Is Jordan interested? We never really saw how she took to Danny talking about her relationship with her ex to the doctor and if I know Sorkin, it’s not going to be good. It’s really odd to see Mark McKinney play the quiet funny type after seeing him do outrageous sketch after outrageous sketch on Kids In The Hall, but he fits his character quite nicely as we learn more about Darius and Lucy as they work with Matt. And Matt! Loved the snarky hello to Luke after giving Harriet the “show note”. Personally I think Matt really needs to find someone else now just so we see Harriet struggle to make a decision over who she wants to be with (and hopefully that person is not Matt). If you weren’t touched by that final scene with the City of New Orleans, there’s something wrong with you. Thumbs up.
L&O Criminal Intent - Weeping Willow - I haven’t really watched an episode of CI since D’Onofrio left so to see all these new faces was as bit of a shock to the system (SVU is my cup of tea, with the original L&O with the Orbach/Bratt/Waterston team being my favourite of all time). To be honest the only reason I wanted to see this episode was due to it being about a kidnapping involving video blogger lonely.. sorry, WeepingWillow17 (played by Michelle Trachtenberg). Trachtenberg was able to blog parts fine, but putting on a sad/angry/worried emotion seemed to be a stretch. Some cute references to YouTube and the like but the story was fairly tired. Thumbs down from me.
Dom Joly’s Happy Hour - Australia - Decided to skip the Russia and Mexico episodes to watch this, and it didn’t let me down. Stepping down in Melbourne and quickly touring the town, they were on their way to the Northern Territories as Dom named them. Plus, it doesn’t get much better then walking up to a Connex counter and asking for two first-class rail tickets to Out-back, when the women would probably then ask “You want Zone 1 and 2?”. Sure, the episode had every single Australian stereotype thrown in despite saying that they wouldn’t go down that road, but it was a fun trip with two Pommie bastards who really seemed to be having a great time. Thumbs up, but the episode in America is still my favourite.
Still to watch: Amazing Race S10E12, Amazing Race Asia S01E03 & E04, Kenny vs Spenny S03E06, Saturday Night Live S32E07 (with the D!).
Screenplay plans are on hold for the time being - I got a business plan to write first
Danny sucks at poker, he’s just like Myspace blogs and how they suck except that he sucks at poker. He lost to runner runner quads - again. Something like 38 times in two weeks.
